Catholic University of Daegu was founded 100 years ago as the first seminary school of Youngnam region teaching university education for giving sight to people who can not see, releasing people in prison, giving light to people in dark with the Catholic education principle and respect for person.
In this spirit, the seniors of this school first started the anti-Japanese aggression campaign on 5 March 1919 in Daegu, In particular, a spiritual proponent of democratization in Korea, cardinal Kim Soo-hwan entered our university and established Hyosung Women's University in order to provide women equality in opportunities for education and taught women about life and academicaly in 1952 and with that as a Deep Educational Hall, Catholic University of Daegu is made as the largest Catholic University in Korea.
Despite the changes of the times, our university has more than 14,000 students, and more than 1,000 staff who are vibrant and constantly been together to design the future in this university full of happiness and pride that cultivates talented people for the world.
Our school is not a school that teach you to worry about what to eat, what to drink, and what to wear even in the serious job crisis these days. We rather plant wisdom, courage, and a sense of challenge to overcome this crisis wisely and to nurture genuine talents who will reach their dreams in the future.
I would like to invite all of you to the deep-rooted and deep-seated educational hall where through the spirit of times you can see the passion of love and genuine wisdom.
