Ginkgo is a tree that has been distributed on earth since 150 million years ago. It’s a very strong tree from the wind and the cold. Moreover, it is heavy with clusters of nuts and they are wrapped in thick skin to protect the contents.
In spring, it gives hope and freshness with it's green leaf and in autumn, ginkgo leaf is a symbol of tolerance along with the nut that turns yellow. Ginkgo tree has vigorous tolerance and it’s growing without covering the soil. From the old days, ginkgo is known with a strong force to withstand the external pressure which symbolize the majesty.
In 1984, as Catholic University of Daegu moved from Bongdeok-dong Campus to Hayang Hyosung Campus, the school planted many Ginkgo tress along with the entrance to College of Law, Humanity, Education, Social Sciences, and College of Business. Also, near residential area, Library, College of Sciences building direction, etc.. Ginkgo trees are now in good harmony with our university goal; teaches about the person who has generous and a solid, being gentle in appearance but a strong will.
